Pop'n Music™
is yet another addition to Konami's Bemani music game series, released
in 1999 in Japan. Pop'n Music can be suited to many different age
and skill levels. It's very easy to learn, even for kids, but very
difficult to master. In Pop'n
Music, you play against other cartoon characters. Each of the characters
in the game has his or her own musical style and song. Some of the
styles include Rap, Latin, J-Techno, Fantasy, Techno Pop, Dance, Pops,
Reggae, Anime Hero, Disco Queen, Spy, and Disco King. |

After selecting a difficulty level and choosing
a song, colored notes fall from the top of the screen, each within
their own column. When they reach the line at the bottom, you must
hit the corresponding colored button on the Pop'n controller. The
player attempts to mix together the music until the end of the time.
If too many notes are missed, the player fails the song. Pop'n Music
has very similar gameplay to Beatmania, however, there are nine
buttons, large enough to hit with the palm of your hand.

There are currently 11 home versions of
Pop'n Music available for the Playstation and Playstation 2. However,
they have not been released outside of Japan, so check import stores
or order online. The latest release, Pop'n Music 11, was released
in March 2004.
